Scott Brandenberg, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering and vice chair of undergraduate studies at the UCLA School of Engineering and Applied Science, has received the 2015 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize.
The award, established in 1964, recognizes members of ASCE for notable achievement in research related to civil engineering. ASCE represents more than 146,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 174 countries and is the nation's oldest engineering society, founded in 1852.
Brandenberg is being recognized for his outstanding research in geotechnical earthquake engineering, with an emphasis on the seismic response of levees, interaction between pile foundations and liquefiable soils, nonlinear site response analysis and geophysical investigations.
