Shane Que Hee, professor of Environmental Health Sciences in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, has received the Volunteer Group Service Award from the American Industrial Hygiene Association. He was recognized by the association’s Biological Monitoring Committee for his outstanding service. He is also a fellow in the organization, recognized for his longstanding achievement in the field of industrial hygiene.
A member of the UCLA Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, and with a research and teaching focus in environmental chemistry and industrial hygiene, Que Hee joined UCLA in 1989 after serving on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati for 11 years. He has published in more than 160 peer-reviewed journals and has written 25 book chapters, four books, and hundreds of national and international meeting presentations keynote addresses. In addition, he has served as principal investigator in dozens of studies and has organized numerous scientific roundtables and symposia at national and international meetings.
Que Hee is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemists and the American Industrial Hygiene Association. He formed the first national committee for risk assessment of skin absorbed chemicals. He serves as a scientific reviewer for many journals and government agencies. He has been a member of TOXNET, the NIOSH Board of Advisors, and he currently reviews for the National Toxicology Program.
