Sheridon Stokes
UCLA senior lecturer in music and Hollywood studio flutist Sheridon Stokes was featured recently at the opening concert of the 44th Annual National Flute Association Convention in San Diego. The association invited Stokes to join the 250-piece Pacific Coast Flute Orchestra, conducted by Peter Sheridan, a former graduate student of Stokes at UCLA.
Stokes played solos from movie and television scores in which he performed. He has played music for the television series “Mission Impossible,” “Roots” and “Kung Fu,” as well as for such films as “Jaws,” “E.T.,” “Ghost,” “Waterworld,” “Jumanji” and “Independence Day.” His most recognizable piece is the famous penny whistle solo of “My Heart Will Go On” sung by Celine Dion in the movie “Titanic.”
