Welcome summer with a free performance at the Fowler Museum by Grammy-nominated vocalist, composer and arranger Perla Batalla on Sunday, June 22, 3:30 p.m., the first of the Fowler's Summer Concerts on the Green series.
Deftly moving through musical genres, Batalla will perform a variety of classic and original material in both English and Spanish, including selections from her award winning “Mestiza” song cycle, Grammy-nominated "Songs of Leonard Cohen" and her unique take on the great American songbook. As an added treat, new collaborative compositions and works-in-progress from her cutting edge one-woman show will be presented for the first time.
The concert in the Fowler's UCLA Art Council Amphitheater will be preceded by a 1 p.m. Kids in the Courtyard event, “Plants for the Planet," where kids and parents can visit the "Earth Matters" exhibition, learn about plants and make clay vases.
