Expect slow traffic and lane reductions along Sepulveda Boulevard, starting Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m. and continuing through Thursday, Sept. 29, while Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) works around-the-clock on pipelines. Two areas will be particularly impacted: The intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard, and the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Pico Boulevard.
The work is part of SoCalGas' Pipeline Safety Enhancement Plan, in which pressure tests and replacement of various high-pressure pipeline sections throughout its system are being done. Until this week, SoCalGas has been able to conduct all work during nighttime hours to minimize traffic congestion. Nighttime-only construction is scheduled to resume after this week’s two-day special project.
Traffic control — including digital message boards, safety cones and flaggers — will be on-site to direct traffic. SoCalGas noted that drivers and pedestrians passing by the construction site may see an excavated section of pipeline with construction equipment and traffic control signage as well as trucks and other vehicles.
