Have you ever wanted to test-drive an electric vehicle (EV)? Now you can, right here on campus. On Tuesday, Sept. 16, noon-4 p.m. at 365 Portola Plaza, just north of Perloff Hall, ride or drive a variety of fun models such as the Tesla Model S, Nissan LEAF, Chevy Volt and Zero motorcycle.
Hosted by UCLA Transportation, Plug In America co-founders Zan Dubin-Scott and Paul Scott, and UCLA’s Smart Grid Energy Research Center (SMERC), the Drive an Electric Vehicle event is part of National Drive Electric Week. Talk to experts from the EV industry and the Center for Sustainable Energy. Learn about public charging options, powering an EV with solar energy, pricing, state rebates, the newest EV colors (gun metallic) and much more.
The event will feature guest speakers, including actor and environmentalist, Ed Begley Jr., a longtime EV driver. There will also be giveaways, such as tickets to a Morgan Page concert and the L.A. Derby Dolls, gift certificates from Real Food Daily, and National Drive Electric Week swag.
