Three UCLA faculty members will be honored at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference with awards that recognize both a lifetime of outstanding work and high achievement at the beginning of an academic career.
 
Eva Baker, distinguished professor of psychological studies in education and social research methodology and co-director of the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST), has been honored with the Robert L. Linn Distinguished Address Award
 
Daniel Solórzano, professor of education, has been named a 2014 AERA Fellow for achievement in scholarly research, encompassing a variety of disciplines within the academy. He is director of UC's All Campus Consortium on Research for Diversity, a multi-campus research center based at UCLA and devoted to the equitable distribution of educational resources and opportunities for all students.
 
Thomas Philip, assistant professor of education, has been recognized with the Jan Hawkins Award for Early Career Contributions to Humanistic Research and Scholarship in Learning Technologies. He has also been selected to receive AERA’s Division G – Social Context of Education Early Career Award.
 
The conference theme, "The Power of Education Research for Innovation in Practice and Policy" will be illustrated through a variety of timely topics by UCLA delegates to AERA, including teachers' unions in the era of standardized testing, college retention of African American male students and the educational environments of returning military veterans.
