The UCLA Camarades (the "music of friends"), the string chamber music ensemble of gifted faculty and students from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, presents a free concert at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30 at the Jan Popper Theater. Reservations are not required.
The concert will open with a piano quartet — Stephanie Nagler on the violin, Emma Stansfield on the viola, Eunice Heo on the cello and Ge Gao on the piano — playing a piece by Latvian composer Peteris Vasks. Following this will be a string trio — Xenia Deviatkinah-Loh on the violin, Morgan O’Shaughnessy on the viola and Anne Sudaon on the cello — performing a serenade piece by Hungarian composer Ernő Dohnányi. The program will close with a string quartet — Anna Corcoran on the violin, Isabella Reyes on the violin, Daniel Mireles on the viola and Bryant Gozali on the cello — performing a piece by Clause Debussy.
Since its inception in 2009, the Camarades have performed throughout Los Angeles, including at LACMA's “Sundays Live,” Trinity Lutheran Church in Manhattan Beach, the Dilijan Series at the Colburn School’s Zipper Hall and the Los Angeles Philanthropic Committee for the Arts' annual gala at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion. The ensemble has also appeared in international festivals around the world, including Yerevan, Armenia and Tuscany, Italy.
