UCLA's Graduate Division and the Sociable Postdoc Society are hosting a series of events Sept.19-24 as part of National Postdoc Appreciation Week. While there have been similar UCLA events in the past, this is the first year that the campus is formally participating in the national celebration of the contributions postdoctoral scholars make to research
Recognized by the U.S.House of Representatives in 2010, the event is now celebrated at dozens of institutions across the country.
Thus far this week at UCLA, scholar have attended an improv workshop sponsored by SciComm Hub@UCLA. And a "Postdoc Appreciation" booth is offering scholars information about special-interest groups on campus, free gifts and giveaways. Upcoming events include an appreciation lunch, a networking fair and picnic. Additional sponsors of the week's activities include the UCLA Faculty Center, UCLA Athletics, the California NanoSystems Institute and several postdoc organizations.
