Wellness specialist Carolyn Katzin has received the St. George National Award from the American Cancer Society. A specialist in integrative nutrition at the Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology, Katzin works with cancer patients during and after treatment to provide individualized plans for nutrition and activity.
A volunteer with the American Cancer Society since 1989, Katzin has served as board member and chair of the society's National Nutrition, Physical Activity and Cancer Control Advisory Group. The St. George National Award is given annually to volunteers who demonstrate admirable leadership and work towards the goals of the American Cancer Society.
Katzin earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from University of London's King's College and a master’s degree in nutritional science from the UCLA School of Public Health, which named her to its Alumni Hall of Fame in 2002. In 1996, she received the American Cancer Society Lifesaver Award. Katzin is the author of two books related to cancer and nutrition: "The Cancer Nutrition Center Handbook" and the "The Everything Cancer-Fighting Cookbook." In 1996, she received the American Cancer Society Lifesaver Award.
