C. Cindy Fan, professor of geography, has been awarded an Honorary Degree Doctor of Laws from the University of Bristol.
Fan is the vice provost for international studies and global engagement at UCLA. She has been a member of UCLA’s faculty since 1989, and during that time she has served as chair of the department of Asian American studies and as the associate dean of social sciences. Fan’s research focuses on topics such as migration, inequality, gender and ethnicity in North America and post-Mao China. She has been previously honored with a Distinguished Scholar Award from the American Association of Geographers and a Distinguished Teaching Award from UCLA.
