Distinguished professor of electrical engineering Asad Madni will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) degree from, jointly, California State University (CSU) and Cal State Northridge (CSUN). CSU’s board of trustees selected him for the honor " in recognition of his pioneering research work and achievements in science, engineering and technology, particularly in the aerospace, military, automotive, commercial, and industrial fields, and his distinguished record of leadership and service at the university and in the community."
 
Madni will be conferred with the degree at the May 22 commencement ceremony of CSUN’s College of Engineering and Computer Science. Earlier this year, Madni was elected a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In 2012, he received an honorary Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng.) degree from the Technical University of Crete, as well as the 2012 IEEE AESS Pioneer Award.
