“The hantavirus outbreak that we’re seeing right now that the world is talking about is the Andes virus. This virus is, in particular, a unique hantavirus because it’s the only one known to spread from person to person. He’s also the director of the Undocumented Migration Project, and his field work outside the classroom at UCLA is closer to that of an investigative journalist’s. He writes academic papers, but he now also writes books for a general audience.
