Following the killings of two African-Americans and 11 Jewish worshippers, the chancellor reminds everyone in the UCLA campus community to offer comfort to those who grieve and of the resources available to those who need them.
Among his many accomplishments, the biostatistics professor earned worldwide recognition for predicting the magnitude of the HIV/AIDS epidemic beginning in the mid-1980s.
“Morton’s leadership and philanthropy are testaments to his belief that the true measure of a life is not what you get, but what you give,” said UCLA Chancellor Gene Block.
A pioneer in her field, Dr. Linda Liau is only the second woman in the nation — and the first Asian-American woman — to chair an academic department of neurosurgery.
Revenue from the deal will help fund events for students during move-in and welcome activities, as well as undergraduate and graduate student leadership initiatives, and campus recreation activities.
Chancellor Gene Block said the new report “allows us to demonstrate how every dollar invested in UCLA pays substantial dividends back to people throughout our state.”
The four-year contract with the United Auto Workers includes annual wage increases of 3 percent for the next four years and a child care subsidy of $3,300 per year.
