Dr. Mary Marfisee, an assistant professor of medicine at UCLA and director of family medical services at Los Angeles’ Union Rescue Mission, has spent nearly 20 years providing care to more than 5,000 people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles’ skid row neighborhood. She delivers “street medicine,” leads a health outreach project with UCLA medical students and recently launched a women’s health initiative addressing gaps in screenings and care for unhoused women.
