During his term in office, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has managed to implement reforms at 22 of LAUSD's worst-performing schools. Since John Deasy took the top job as superintendent of LAUSD less than two years ago, he has
managed to keep more students in the classroom by cutting the rate at which students were being suspended in half.

The two leaders came to campus Wednesday night to talk about the school reforms they have instituted at an event that was part of the Luskin Lecture Series hosted by the Luskin School of Public Affairs.
