Interim director named for Office of Human Research Protection Program
Alison Orkin has been named interim director for the Office of the Human Research Protection Program (OHRPP) in the Office of Research Administration, following the retirement of Sharon Friend. Most recently, Orkin served as OHRPP assistant director with responsibility for the general campus institutional review boards (IRBs) and was instrumental in the development and implementation of webIRB.
Leadership shifts in Payroll Services and Corporate Financial Services
David Iwakiri will become director of Payroll Services on July 1, coming to UCLA with 19 years of experience in payroll operations at a variety of companies. He will work closely with the executive leadership of the systemwide UCPath project to align human resources and payroll processes across all UC campuses as of July, 2014.
Geetha Sendhil, who has led Payroll services for 18 months concurrent with her primary role as chief information officer (CIO) for Corporate Financial Services, will resume her CIO position full-time. She will focus on implementing vital campus-wide IT initiatives like the new BruinCard system, which will benefit UCLA faculty, staff and students.
