huguette clarkJoin authors Bill Dedman and Paul Clark Newell, Jr., as they delve into the fascinating story of painter, art collector and heiress Huguette Clark at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library. Dedman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, joins Newell in a reading and discussion of their book, "Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune." Huguette Clark is the half-sister of William Andrews Clark, Jr., who funded the library that bears his name. Newell is a distant cousin of Huguette Clark and did extensive research for the book. Admission is free, but registration by Nov. 5 is required. On Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. Anne-Lise Desmas, acting department head for sculpture and decorative arts at the J. Paul Getty Museum, will speak on "Sculptor Paul Troubetzkoy and William A. Clark: the Cultural Elite in late-1910s Los Angeles." You must register by Nov. 6 for the free lecture.
