UCLA students, faculty and the wider Los Angeles community will be hosting a diverse slate of events this Pride Month. From innovative dance performances to thought-provoking discussions and film screenings, the programs will honor the LGBTQ+ community and their art, voices and visions for the future.

Book talk: “Queering Reproductive Justice”
The Williams Institute and the UCLA Center for Reproductive Health, Law and Policy will host an online webinar and book talk with lawyer and social justice advocate Candace Bond-Theriault. Her new book, “Queering Reproductive Justice: An Invitation” explores the intersections of reproductive justice and LGBTQIA+ movements, as well as opportunities for a more inclusive future.

“The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love”
The UCLA Film & Television Archive will present a free screening of “The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love” with The Hammer Museum at UCLA in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary. The film explores the love story of a working-class tomboy and a wealthy popular girl with sweetness and humor, offering a joyous take on queer coming-of-age.
Admission to the Hammer is free. Seating will be assigned at the box office on a first-come, first-served basis. The box office opens one hour before the event.

Indonesian choreographer and dancer Rianto will present "Medium," his new exploration of the Central Javanese Lengger dance. Backed by a live score, Rianto will bring the ancient form of cross-gender dance into contemporary light, challenging binaries by exploring the spaces between gender, culture and personal identity.
The performance will be held at The Nimoy. Tickets can be purchased online.
June 13—14, 8:00 p.m.
Choreographer Miguel Gutierrez will present his new dance performance piece “Super Nothing,” featuring a diverse quartet of performers. A meditation on grief and the ways queer communities and communities of color navigate survival and joy, the emotionally charged performance is inspired by feminist, scholar and activist bell hooks, and it explores the creative process and how bodies shape our understanding of community and identity.
The performances will take place at the Freud Playhouse. Tickets can be purchased online.

As the academic year comes to a close, the LGBTQ Campus Resource Center will host its 27th Lavender Extravaganza. The annual event celebrates Bruins for their contributions and achievements in support of the LGBTQ+ community at UCLA, recognizing students, staff and faculty with a variety of awards. Participants will be presented with memorabilia including a tassel, sash and certificate.
The event will be held at Korn Convocation Hall. Graduating students must register by May 23.

Silencing Knowledge: How Executive Actions Threaten the Future of LGBTQ Research
Join the Williams Institute for a discussion about the impact of the current administration on LGBTQ research. Scholars from the institute and across the country will provide their perspectives on the history and potential future of LGBTQ studies as well as what makes them so important.

The Hammer Museum and Transgender UCLA Pride co-present the West Coast premiere of “Heightened Scrutiny.” The newly released documentary follows the battle against anti-transgender legislation in the United States and features Chase Strangio, the first openly transgender person to argue in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Sam Feder and producer Amy Scholder.
