Research brief: An AI-based tool created by UCLA researchers had 99.8% accuracy in detecting potentially life-threatening errors, called realistic hallucinations, that occasionally come from virtual staining AI models.

The Veterans in STEM program, which helps student veterans get the lab experience often required for graduate school applications, faces an uncertain future with the suspension of federal grant funding.
“The research doesn’t just pick up where it left off,” Bearden said. “If it’s just a delay, it’s an unnecessary delay that’s impacting the search for cures.”
